The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 旁白太多了，好像一部读出来的电影。前后也略有些割裂，故事讲着讲着就跑了。有些内容还是有想法的，但是讲得方式太差了。而不老这个概念，也基本没用上啊。
男主的现实生活可以说一团糟，找不到工作，面临起诉，还要照顾患病的老父亲。唯一的精神寄托就是自己的网恋对象。所以，他不远万里跑去找“她”，他不想连仅有的爱情也失去了，他想知道是为什么。
她好漂亮，真的。另外，导演真的好会调色，两人在夜晚的相遇和发廊归还裙子，场景如梦似幻。
没有才华，不懂节制。浪费主演。浪费编剧。浪费摄影。本来可以是个好电影。
很吸引人的片子，不只是主角们很好看，色彩和光影的运用更是恰到好处。故事直白又勇敢，关于认同关于找寻。【轴】

对于很多植物和动物来说，大部分人都是它们的灾难。好好的风景要去践踏，野外活得好好的要去干扰。不过若有别的物种比人更强大，那人也将被玩弄，弱肉强食的世界。
很有感覺⋯
纠结到最后还是给了四星，愿我们都有属于自己的一片天地，勇敢前行，面对真实的自我。 4.0

莎拉惧怕丹尼尔的暴力，丹尼尔错愕莎拉的真我，屏幕分隔了两人截然不同的私人荒漠，又勾勒出他们美好爱情的海峡。
男孩始终还是最懂男人的心思，但活在现实中的我们可能不怎么相信电影结尾那一段转变，或许真实的他与他就是如此吧，在相遇分别后各自都找到了属于自己的真实模样。
“丁萌萌”给我留下相当深的印象。
