The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 五年多的等待，终于看到了《新·福音战士剧场版：终》。开场的战斗戏把我嗨得遗憾自己没能在IMAX影厅观影；其后的生活戏又让我可惜自己看片前没有抽时间重温下系列动画；后续的内容则让我找到了些许当初观看《Air/真心为你》“目瞪口呆、赞叹不已”的观感 …… 期待未来能有机会在影院重温《福音战士剧场版》系列吧！
竟然这就是剧场版的终结，看完觉得有点虚无。自己十几年的喜爱竟等到这样一个结局……从电影院走出来后久久头晕，无话可说。除了有几个喜欢的镜头之外，我宁愿这部剧场版不存在。
很多之前的情节记不清了，本质上的情绪和主题跟旧版其实并无太大差别，仍旧是关于自我释放自我救赎相互和解的辩证法
明日香，绫波，美里，司令，大家都与过去的自己和解了。真嗣长大了。我也是。"永别了，所有的Evangelion。"
作品很好，但因为CP组的太好了，一星好评必须给上!
说完这句话之后，我仿佛也能好好道别了，向那些角色说出这个迟来太久的再见，还EVA一个我想要又抗拒的结尾。其实我一直问自己的是，如果我是真嗣，我会怎么样？但我们都不是真嗣，我们有自己的痛苦和犹豫，一步步艰难地成长，我们的故事也值得诉说，起码有那么一个时刻，他们真的都过上了那种自己梦寐以求的生活，那种没有EVA的生活。再见了，所有的evangelion，我接受所有的痛苦，我该长大了。

以弑父中止终结，灭绝破灭，终极和解。人都会在没有EVA的新世界继续长大。
我很喜欢这个电影标题，感觉特别优雅，用乐谱的符号来双关。首先可以当做「:」是冒号，而「│▌」只是用终止符来表示这是系列的最后一作了。其次可以当做「:│▌」是一个整体，这是重复乐章的符号。感觉在双重解读中留了一手。
最终决战前其实做得还可以。全片看完，却只有明日香的一句台词有印象：“对不起，我一个人先成为了大人。”（而不是“胸很大的好女人”）。

加持良治和葛城美里的儿子出场第一秒，泪奔。加持良治最后的回头。要打就打你们爷俩儿的但是从特么的从西瓜地里滚远点！加持良治留下的遗产物尽其用。加持良治自始自终都从容而坚定。没必要拿这个男人出来鞭尸了，放他回去务农吧。我的EVA青春，叫加持良治。
