The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 看得出导演的才气，很多场与场情节之间的转换挺有意思，片子氛围营造的很成功，也挺会选角。
三段式三个视角非常完美的结构，女性视角升华全片。男女视角对比的subtle difference真的又讽刺又让人愤怒。Jodie Comer把细节演得太到位了共情到全身心投入。
《痴》是在讲他人，《椒麻堂会》讲的是自己的祖辈，是在写一种影像家史。是在有限的空间里，无限的想象力，重生到毁灭，两条叙事线的自然切换，人生如戏，舞台依旧。
威尼斯非竞赛单元全球首映，超爱雷爵爷的《天国王朝》，没想到有生之年还能看到他再次指导历史题材电影。男人的行为永远是为了争夺脸面，为了宣示权利，无人关心受伤害的女性，她的发声遭到质疑，她的命运身不由己。
