The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 玩过大表哥，场景服装感觉很亲切。
西部题材的小品，短小精悍，尤其是最后揭示出比利小子的身份，于是顺理成章变成了英雄看破江湖后隐退的主题。文化迥异，就像美国人不一定理解黄飞鸿，我对比利小子也不会激动到颤抖。罪恶之源还是贪念，明明选定了余生道路，看到一包现金，还是伸出了手。所以，这不是英雄隐退，还是逃犯亡命。只不过西部就是弱肉强食，美国人只看武功好不好，不以道德水准论英雄。传统崩塌英雄难觅的今天，把经典ip拍出这种衍生水准，也难得。
四星不值，三星可惜。拿来当打牙祭还是不错，不无聊
前面氛围营造的不错，但是最后的大决战也太儿戏了吧，反转也是草率
久违的西部电影的味道。没什么比一个把汗水留在地里的干瘪老农更让人觉得窝囊，尤其他还眇着一只眼。但是在西部，每个老男人的过去都可能是传奇。美国电影喜欢拍这种惹不起的主题，源自他开拓时代的尚武延续。
味道很浓的西部片，同样是一个人干掉一个团伙，但是比小人物、疾速追杀这种无脑爽片有味道
3.5，画面，质感，服装都很对味，剧情有些忒简单，完全可以丰富一些

名字《老亨利》，听着就像一瓶老酒，安静的待在那里，只有打开了品尝了才知道------卧槽。。。。。劲儿真猛！
西部片的味道挺足，但很多细节方面不够严谨，比如老亨利躲在草窝子里跟劫匪们第一次近距离接触，我不知道他是怎么一下子就骑马跑了，在三个人围剿的情况下，他根本就抬不起头，爬走的能有这么快吗？还有最后在他家门口跟群匪的战斗，我就不信那么多人朝他开枪，没一个能打中他，还有他儿子开门出来对射，居然也能全身而退。不管西部片的氛围营造的再地道，细节不严谨那就跟那些抗日神剧差不多了。近期看的《接住子弹》比这更差
退隐的高手不得不重出江湖，颇有中国武侠之感
3.5摄影不错，几处空镜头，增加了人物的气质和氛围。
虽然是故事比较简单，场景也比较单调的一部西部片，但拍的还不错。这个年老单薄的农夫就是江湖传说的比利小子，在关键时刻拔枪射击，以一当十干脆利落。情节最后的反转也让他失去了生命，救了不该救的人，双方原来都不是好人。最后，本不甘于平淡的小儿子也持枪跨马，走出小屋，融入了西部苍茫的天地。
喜欢这种不含任何夸张成分的西部枪战，纯写实的拍反而很有代入感。混乱的枪战哪有机会让你耍帅，哪有百发百中，哪有无限子弹。大侠挨枪子也挂，跑两步也喘，开枪也得瞄。在那种混乱的世界做个好人自力更生是最奢侈的幻想。
