The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 十几个一桌几个小时决定了了几百万人的生死。 在他们的位置应该早已将人数字化，物化了吧，所以我完全无法想象这种心境，但也更加警醒自己内心的恶，肯定比我想象的更大，如同我们以为自己不会犯罪，但实则我们没被放在那个环境。
与其说是电影不如说是一部还原很严谨的写实纪录片
这不过是一次会议，能拍得令心动魄实在不容易。还有不少这样的会议，以后也值得拍一拍。

五星让更多的人来看。会议效率如此之高，冷静理性地讨论清零“方案”，精确到人头和子弹消耗，让人不寒而栗。同时，发现1984年版本和2001BBC&HBO的版本。
和鬼灭剧场版差不多的感受，还是追剧有意思一点
重现了二战期间纳粹有组织有计划杀戮犹太人的那场会议，流氓不可怕，有组织有文化的流氓集团太可怕…
有一瞬间我觉得这个故事可以换成另一件事
2022 #1 megabox 五条先生最高！漫畫雖然也只是單行但感覺劇場版簡潔很多？動作場面華麗麗的。理香比想像中可愛（咒靈版），反而小時候卻很狐狸精模樣。純愛那句笑死我了
那么认真、严谨、周到地讨论如何对一个民族赶尽杀绝让人毛骨悚然。竟然是德国人自己拍的，这一点就值得五星。
一圈下来，最大感想还是，樱井孝宏配得真好啊啊啊啊啊声优界的千利休！
当人坐在一起冷静的讨论怎么把上千万人杀死的时候，是多么恐怖啊，仅有的一点疑问的想法也被淹没在沉默以及所谓的伟大事业中。人性的恶从潘多拉魔盒里被放出来，就是人类最灾难的事。电影全程是会议过程，有些沉闷。
看了一场平淡的现场会议，讨论的却是如何屠杀一千多万犹太人，从组织、运输、人种区分、处决方式，平常得像讨论如何省时省力将北方的白菜运到南方。
啊老师们神仙打架真好，啊前辈们短暂出镜也好幸福！啊我的绪方惠美女神太适合纯爱战士了，啊她好棒！啊mappa真神！
放在大屏幕上还是差点意思，或者说漫画作为一种完善自足的媒介，单纯的转译就是会流失信息，何况是在原作本就不够有力的情况下。
22/5/2022 @ GH Megabox IMAX。看各方評論都説沒看過原作也可以入場的情況下就跑去看了，然而看完後卻毫無衝動想補完動畫/漫畫，或許自己已經對這種套路免疫了😅
非常精彩，年度最佳候选。编剧的台词功底令人折服，严谨到几乎滴水不漏。戏骨们飙戏飚的忘我，连续且毫无破绽的演出值得玩味。固定空间内纷繁登场、性格迥异的高官之间为争夺各自利益的唇枪舌战，不顾脸面厚颜无耻的讨价还价，小集团之间的相互拉扯与斗智斗勇。在100分钟内，电影将那场臭名昭著的「恶魔会议」铺平展开、逻辑清晰且高潮迭起，人物性格、时事进展、世界局势被一一呈现，酣畅痛快，淋漓尽致。观影之余不禁感慨，1100万犹太人的命运，仅由15个人，在短短的九十分钟内就做了决定。何等仓促，何等讽刺，何等残暴，何等悲凉。
把过去的罪恶公之于众，需要的不仅仅是勇气，还有就是对历史的否定。一群道貌岸然的人，神情轻松的讨论最终解决方案，穿插着谈论各自的家庭美满和子女，形成了巨大的反差，耐心看完全片并不会感到枯燥。
