The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 这个倒叙比《我们都无法成为大人》拍法自然多了，也很有感染力。而电影名像是对观众的一场提问。坐在路边的那个男人就是电影剪辑也是这场爱情的倒叙，从相识（爱）到热恋（1/2离开）再到陌生人（孤独等待）......
